22.10.2016

S9YY (EME) is QRT. At al 317 OSO's on 2m and 46 QSO's (41 initials, 2 in CW) on 70cm are in the log. Thank you al for working S9YY!

21.10.2016

This morning I made QRT after 317 QSO's on 2m. Then I replaced the 2m antennas by the 70cm antennas. From 00:00 UTC (22.10.2016) until MS I will activate 70cm the last time. At the moment we have the usual power failure. Tomorrow starts then the dismantling and the preparation of the return journey.

16.10.2016

Last night it rained and a thunderstorm passed by. The MR was left of the bushes. I had moved the antenna to another location, so I could work with 0 degrees of elevation. Unfortunately, I had only seen ZL3NW before he had MS. Otherwise it was very good with the JA-stations. The next days I'm always on 2m. On Saturday (last activity day) I am on 70cm.
Otherwise we had the usual power failures and I was fighting with the internet connection. N0UK and smartphone are a challenge.

14.10.2016

I have 221 QSO's in the 2m-log until now. Today I changed the antennas and prepert the 70cm-station. All equipment works, but we had again a power failure. Let's see ...

13.10.2016

Last night I always had electricity. It was a completely new feeling! Today I want to be again qrv on 2m. Tomorrow I will change the antennas from 2m to 70cm. Friday is the first day of 70cm-activity.

12.10.2016

At the moment we have no power ...
We have at least one power failure every day. The worst case, however, are the very short interruptions. That does not like the switching power supplies and my preamplifier. Despite the use of the sequencer and protection circuits in the preamplifier, I have already lost the two preamplifiers. My reserves are limited.
Great problems are also caused by the HF here. The distance between the antennas is only about 10m.
RTTY and CW with amplifier I can hardly filter out.
The polarization of TX and RX is mostly different on 2m. I have to try it all the time ... Sorry if it sometimes takes.
So far, there are 145 QSO's on 2m.
In the radio room I have no
aircondition and Internet only outside (not always). I am therefore only from time to time in the N0UK.

11.10.2016

Yesterday I had again considerable problems with the mains voltage. It went up and down to 138V. The power amplifier had then only 40V instead of 50V, since the switching power supply has no longer managed to settle. I hope my technique can cope with that. So far, only the HF group had losses.
I have tried to find
a better location for the antenna to be able to work at moonrise earlier. Unfortunately the big bush is always in the way. Only next week is moonrise left of the bush. Sorry, but I do not have other options.
Today I will work again on 2m. Please do not always call on the frequency QRG +/- 0Hz! I'm
watching +/- 700Hz.

10.09.2016

My radio room is outside the main building, because of possible interference with our HF-Stations. The power supply there is not stable. The voltage goes up and down. The biggest problem yesterday, however, was the security man. He wanted to turn on the lights in the garden and tried to switch all fuses on and off (several times within seconds). I lost a preamplifier ...
In the direction of the moonrise is a big bush, so I can work this week only from about 25 degrees elevation. I will try to find a better location for the antenna in the next days
.

08.10.2016

T
oday I set up the antenna at 30 degrees in the shade. Everything was fine, but a problem is the supply of electricity here. I can not operate the air conditioner and the power amplifier at the same time. Regardless of the currently bad EME conditions, I have made a few QSO's. Without good internet connection and the high temperatures it was not easy.

07.10.2016

Our trip went from Berlin via Lisbon and Accra to Sao Tome without problems. In Sao Tome we passed the customs, but not completely free ...
Our QTH is ok, but the internet connection is slow. It is already late so I will build the EME-
station tomorrow. The conditions are not good anyway at the moment.

30.09.2016

We hope to arrive our QTH on Friday October 7 late evening. I will start to build up the EME-station next day.
I expect to be QRV on 2m/70cm
from October 9 until 22.

Activity on 70cm
will be during two complete moonpasses:
1. On Friday 14 (MR about 16:00 UTC, MS Saturday about 03:30 UTC)
2. On Saturday 22 (MR about 00:00 UTC, MS about 11:00 UTC) ARRL EME Contest!

05.09.2016

Today I received the visa for
Sao Tome & Principe. Now everything is complete!

21.04.2016

I will be QRV from S9 (Sao Tome & Principe) from October 8th untill October 23rd. I will be there joining a German HF-expedition.
The flights and location have been fixed and paid for. The EME-callsign on 2m and 70cm is S9YY. We hope to have Internet at the QTH from the beginning. We will use the chat pages provided by N0UK and HB9Q.
A schedule will be published later. You will find more information here and a daily update of the logs on relevant buttons of my Webpage later.
